तमाम शब की दुखन, बेकली, सुबुक-ख़्वाबी
नमूद-ए-सुबह को दरमां समझ कर काटी है
रगों में दौड़ते फिरते लहू की हर आहट
अजल गिरफ़्ता ख़्यालों को आस देती है
मगर वह आंख जो सब देखती है–हंसती है

उफ़क़ से सुबह की पहली किरन उभरती है
तमाम रात की फ़रयाद एक सुकूत में चुप
तमाम शब की दुखन, बेकली, सुबुक बे-ख़्वाबी
हरीरी पर्दों की ख़मोश सिलवटों में गुम
जो आंख ज़िन्दा थी ख़मोश छत को तकती है
मगर वह आंख जो सब देखती है–हंसती है

नमूद-ए-सुबह की ज़रनार रोशनी के साथ
महकते फूल दरीचे से झांक कर देखें
तो मेज़-ओ-दर पे किसी दर्द का निशां न मिले
उगालदान, दवाओं की शीशियां, पंखा
कुंवारी मां का तबस्सुम सलीब आवेज़ां
हर एक चीज़ बदस्तूर अपनी अपनी जगह
नए मरीज़ की आमद का इंतज़ार करे
और एक आंख जो सब देखती है–हंसती है

tamaam shab ki dukhan, be-kali, subuk Khwaabhii
namuud-e-sub’h ko darmaaN samajh kar kaaTii hai
ragoN meN dauRte phirte lahuu kii har aahaT
ajal girafta KhayaaloN ko aas detii hai
magar voh aaNkh jo sab dekhtii hai–hanstii hai

ufaq se sub’h kii pahlii kiran ubhartii hai
tamaam raat ki faryaad ek sukuut meN chup
tamaam shab ki dukhan, be-kalii, subuk be-Khwaabi
hariirii pardoN kii Khamosh silwatoN meN gum
jo aaNkh zinda thii Khamosh chhat ko taktii hai
magar wo aaNkh jo sab dekhtii hai–haNstii hai

namuud-e-sub’h kii zartaar roshnii ke saath
mahakte phuul dariiche se jhaaNk kar dekheN
to mez-o-dar pe kisii dard ka nishaaN na mile
ugaal-daan davaaoN ki shiishiyaaN, pankhaa
kuNvaarii maaN ka tabassum, saliib aavezaaN
har ek chiiz badastuur apnii jagah
naye mariiz kii aamad ka intizaar kare
aur ek aaNkh jo sab dekhtii hai–hanstii hai
