Nadiya Kollapeta Rathri - Another thriller in the making

K Madhu has shot to fame, two decades ago, all by making thrillers, either investigative or political ones. Every films that are tied to his name tag like the very famous C B I series, carries this word and mood which essentially gives a concise description of his panorama of films. But now he is trying on something which seems a little different. This time trying to make another investigative thriller shot at length on a moving train. Titled Nadiya Kollapeta Rathri, the film seems to be a racy murder mystery inspired from Murder on Orient Express, the classic Agatha Christi thriller.

Nadiya Kollapeta Rathri unveils the mystery behind three murders that take place on a train. Action hero Suresh Gopi is once again becoming a part of K. Madhu films playing the lead role of an investigative Railway Protection Force officer.

The title character of this A.K Sajan story is an Indian international shooter Nadiya, who is murdered on a train which is on its inaugural run between Chennai and Mangalore. Nadhiya was planning to alight from flight to Kerala but as she missed it, she plans to make the travel in Sauparnika Express which was flagged of the same day by the central minister. The famous dancer Thulasi many and television reporter Shreya Mariya were also traveling in the same train. Shreya was a reporter known for her sharp reporting styles and was at the same time a problem maker for all politicians.

As the train entered madhukkara station near Kerala border, attender Sreenivasan was the first one who noticed that Nadhiya had been killed in the train. And within hours came the news about the death of Shreya Mariya and Thulasimani, one of their bodies found on a railway track. The murders created quite a commotion, as the people involved were all, some of the biggest celebrities. As the murders happened in the Coimbatore Railway division, the charges of investigation were on S.I.Mayilvaahanam Kathireshan. But as he has retired from service before the final investigations, nothing was made clear about the murders.

As the railway realized the need of the setting of a new force for the protection of the celebrity passengers, they set up one in the name –RASK. The force was headed by Sharafuddeen Taramasi IPS, an encounter specialist from the Railway Anti-Criminal Task Force, who was entrusted the case, two years after the actual incidents happened. The plot follows how he clears off the mystery behind the three murders which happened on the same train. Suresh Gopi is Sharafuddeen Thamaresy. Kavya Madhavan appears as Nadhiya while Suja Karthika is Thulasimani in the film.

The film has Camera is by K. Madhu regular, Anandakuttan and editing by P C Mohan. The cast include Siddique, Rajan P Dev, Shammy Thilakan, Niyas, Subair, Suresh Krishna, Vijayakumar, Suja Karthika, Urmila Unni and Poornima. The film which is nearing completion is being shot at Coimbatore, Palghat and Kochi. The film produced under the banner of Krishnakripa, will be released by Dream Team.

Heart Beats - Another campus thriller for the youth

Vinoo Anand is the director who came into the limelight with his meticulous direction of the film Oruvan which has Indrajith as a psychopath killer. Even though the film didn’t make it to the top of the box office charts, it became noted for its beautiful framing and excellent narratives.

Now in his second film after Oruvan, Vinoo is again repeating Indrajith in the lead. But the surprise casting coup of the film came in the form of Simran, who appears again in the female lead of the film after keeping away from Tinsel town for a couple of years, following her marriage.

The actress who became impressed with the storyline and her character in the film selected this one as her comeback movie. The film produced in the banner of Tri-Star films by Jolly Joseph follows a storyline by the producer himself.

The movie presents a suspenseful investigative story in the backdrop of a self financing medical college campus. The film, which starts of as a normal campus flick, takes a different root following the suicide attempt by Haritha-a medical student of the campus.

To investigate this case arrives Humayoon Kabeer, a police officer of Tamilnadu cadre.
As the officer pick up the bits and pieces, the two final names that become cornered are that of Binoy John Idikkula- a medical student and his gang and Professor Sabhapathy.

In the course of his investigations, he also follows mysterious lady, Thankom George who is an introvert but posses amazing skills to keep secrets. Then the film captures the officer’s attempts to know each of their minds, which leads to bigger relavations.

The film is scripted by Babu Janardhanan after Vasthavam, which won the state award of 2006.

Simran appears as Thankam George, while Indrajith is Binoy John Idikkula. The film also has a younger cast including Anoop Chandran, Manikkuttan, Biju Menon, Govindan Kutty, Arun, Charu Haasan, Jagathy Sreekumar and Cochin Haneefa.

Cinematographed by Jibu Jacob, the film has four songs set to music by George Peter in the lyrics of Gireesh Puthencherry. The film is planned to reach the release centres by this weekend.

Chocolate - Shafi to repeat the success of Mayavi

Shafi’ had a wonderful year so far with his Mayavi with Mammootty becoming the biggest hit of the year. He was always been the success man to have made a number of films like Kalyanaraman, Thommanum Makkalum, Pulival Kalyanam, one man show and Tamil film Majaa, which were all big hits.

And to continue his winning streak, he has selected a unique campus based subject for his new film titled Chocolate. The film in its last phase of production, is being shot at Sacred heart College, Thevara.

Chocolate tells the tale of a teenager who is forced to study in a women’s college. Shyam Balagopal is a tough guy who has been shown the door from a couple of colleges before as he is well versed in everything other than studying and keeping discipline. For Shyam Balagopal, it’s a dream come true for being the only male in a women’s college, that too a college which is well known for the beauties like Ann Mathews, Nandhana and Susan. He has secured admission in the college where his mother is working as a lecturer with a special consent from the management.

Although Shyam is quite happy about the state of affairs, he soon finds out that dreams can take a bitter turn. His problems started as he takes on the three-member tomboyish gang of Ann, Nandana and Soosan played by Roma, Samvritha Sunil and Remya Nambeeshan. As he becomes a pet of the campus in a few days, he is forced to appear as a candidate in the elections opposite the female gang. Shyam is fighting the election for the post of the union chairman. There starts the row, which develops into something that totally changes the lives of those involved. Another important character in the film is Renjith (Jayasurya), who is a fashion designer and is unable to express his feelings to Nandana.

After the super hit Classmates, Prithviraj onchocolatece again appear in the lead in a campus based movie playing Shyam Balagopal. The other members of the cast include Lalu Alex, Rajan P. Dev, Salim Kumar, Anoop Chandran, Bindu Panikkar, Gaythri, Shanu, Prem, Mini Arun, Shari and Vanitha.

The film mostly based on a campus is scripted by the debutant duo Sachi-Sethu. The music department of the film is handled by the hit makers Vayalar Sharth -Alex Paul team. Cinematograped by Azhagappan, the film is edited by Hariharaputhran.

“The film is conceived not just for the youth but to family audiences as well, as we have packed much to appeal to the entire masses”, says Shafi, on the film. The film is produced by Santha Muraleedharan and P K Muraleedharan under the banner of Amanda vision and is scheduled to get released in August for Onam.

Ore Kadal - Await some awesome performances

Shyamaprasad is one director who has established a genre of his own, with his very interesting plots which travels through the least explored angles of human mind and the erosion of values that has occurred in the lives of modern man. His Agnisakshi and Akale were films that were celebrated among those who were die hard fans of serious cinema.

Here with his new film Orekadal, he is again into his act of exploring human minds and their emotional strains. This time, Shyamaprasad has the support of the two of the best known and acknowledged artists of the Indian cinema–Mammootty and Meera Jasmine, in the lead.

Mammooty is Dr. S.R. Nathan in the film, an internationally acclaimed economist, molded in the likes of Dr. Amartya Sen. He is more focused on fiscal and economic matters and roams around in careless dresses amidst lazyness and his big intellect. He leads a lonely life and is an alcoholic to boot, who never believes in long lasting relations.

And after a travel around the world, he comes over to a flat to make a living for some time. Their, by the oddest of circumstances he meets a housewife, Deepthi, who instantly develops a fancy for the world renowned economist. Deepthi is living in one of the neighboring flats with his husband Jayan who is a marketing officer of an insurance company. In course of time they learn that they have much common between themselves. Both due to their own circumstances, they have been to same emotional strains, which bring them together for a matured romance that starts budding between them.

Meera Jasmine, for first time starring opposite Mammootty in this film, plays the role of Deepthi. The film speaks about the varied experiences of life and hitherto unseen aspects of romance. Scripted by the director Shyamaprasad himself, the film will cater more to an enlightened audience. The film produced by Vindhyan in the banner of Rasika Entertainments, have five songs by Gireesh Puthencherry set to music by Ouseppachan.

The shooting of the film has been completed weeks ago, and is in its postproduction stages. The film is planned to be in theatres by the mid of June.
